Dear Friends,
Donate $500 today to receive a limited edition tote bag created exclusively for ACT. This tote, illustrated and designed by award-winning author and illustrator Janell Cannon, features an image of Kogi Mamo Shibulata. Cannon collaborated with the Kogi people on the drawing, which illustrates environmental dilemmas that challenge the Kogi, as well as the entire world.
The bag is made of sturdy GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified cotton. Dimensions are 15”H x 13”W x 8”D. The carrying straps are 1 1/2” wide and long enough for you to wear around your shoulder or carry by hand without dragging. The tote makes a perfect substitute for single-use shopping bags, but is also stylish enough to use for other occasions.
About the Kogi: The Kogi people dwell on the slopes of Colombia’s Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta—the tallest coastal mountain in the world at over 18,000 feet. They actively preserve their traditions, choosing to remain mostly in their villages and to devote their time growing crops, weaving their clothes and mochilas (fiber bags in which they carry their sacred coca leaves), and maintaining a strong spiritual connection to the planet. In response to increasing development along the Colombian coast, the Kogi partnered with ACT to acquire, manage and protect their most vulnerable sacred sites—areas of significant biological and cultural importance. Please join with us to help the Kogi preserve their beautiful and sacred stretch of coastline.
About Janell Cannon: Ms. Cannon is the creator of the bestselling book Stellaluna and a passionate supporter of worldwide conservation efforts. She has always admired all animals—especially creatures that have been misunderstood or maligned.
Thanks to ACT Corporate Sponsor Simple Ecology for support of this project by supplying the bags with cost and shipping savings.
