The Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) is delighted to welcome Oliver-Ximon Mwiinga, an 11-year-old nature lover and emerging storyteller from The Hague, the Netherlands, as our newest Ambassador.

Despite his young age, Oli has a remarkable sense of curiosity and deep empathy for the natural world. He loves football, animals, reading, and exploring — but above all, he cares about protecting the planet and the people who call it home.

Oli, his family, Pablo Chindoy and María del Rosario “Charito” Chicunque in Costa Rica.

Oli’s connection to ACT began in a meaningful way. His parents, who serve as ACT consultants in Europe, traveled with the organization to Costa Rica earlier this year. During that visit, Oli joined the team and learned firsthand about Ancestral Tides and other ACT programs that work with Indigenous communities to protect forests, rivers, and traditional knowledge. This experience gave him a deeper understanding of how Indigenous peoples live in harmony with the forest and inspired him to share these stories with others.

As an Ambassador, Oli will help amplify ACT’s mission to protect the Amazon and support the communities who safeguard it, bringing a fresh, youthful perspective to conservation efforts and advocacy.

ACT, founded in 1996, works hand-in-hand with Indigenous and local communities to safeguard the Amazon rainforest and strengthen ancestral knowledge systems across South America. Through ambassadors like Oli, ACT engages new audiences, fostering curiosity, care, and action for the protection of some of the planet’s most biodiverse and culturally rich regions.
