Musician Cimafunk Teams Up With the Amazon Conservation Team

The Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) is proud to announce Afro-Cuban musician Cimafunk has joined the organization as an official ambassador. In this role, the internationally acclaimed artist will help spotlight the work ACT is doing to protect the Amazon rainforest and support Indigenous and local communities across South America.

Cimafunk, a Grammy-nominated musician whose genre-defying sound blends funk with Caribbean rhythms, has used his platform to uplift Afro-diasporic identity and ancestral knowledge. His upcoming collaboration with ACT will focus on raising awareness of the Amazon’s cultural and ecological importance, particularly through music and storytelling.

“I’m so proud of this great team and to help grow respect and awareness for the environment,” said Cimafunk. “I am ready to groove, learn and create with many powerful communities in the Forest.”

Founded in 1996 by conservationist Liliana Madrigal and ethnobotanist Dr. Mark Plotkin, ACT takes a unique approach to conservation—one that centers on territorial land rights and management, supports local livelihoods, and works to preserve traditional knowledge systems to protect the rainforest.

“The Amazon Conservation Team is honored to work with Cimafunk— an extraordinarily talented artist whose creativity, commitment, and public platform will help amplify ACT’s mission on a truly global scale,” said Madrigal.
