João Carlos Nunes Batista

ACT-SynBioBrasil Coordinator

A biologist, Joao is the director of Synbio Brasil, an environmental consulting firm. In this capacity, through a consultancy, he has managed ACT’s partnership and associated project with the Waurá indigenous village of Ulupuene and the Ulupuene Indigenous Association in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso since 2012. He is a specialist in the restoration of native vegetation, forest inventories and surveys, and fauna monitoring, and has worked to promote the well-being of indigenous communities since 2002.

As a volunteer, João serves with the Brazilian Association of Park Guards. He carries a degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculdade da Terra de Brasília, Brazil.
