At ACT, we search for the most effective ways to ensure that the magnificent Amazon ecosystem survives long after we are gone. What better guardians of the future are there than the forests’ own children? These young ones will inherit all of the promise and peril of the Amazon, and their hands will hold tremendous responsibility for the health of their people, their forests, and the planet itself.
ACT partners with tribal elders to prepare today’s indigenous children for the challenges ahead. Through our innovative programs, together we teach children to fully understand and embrace their own precious cultures, while also giving the children the skills needed to navigate the modern worlds outside their borders. Today’s ten-year-old may one day be called upon to negotiate tribal land rights in a distant city, or grow up to articulate a cure for diabetes made from rainforest plants.
