Brazil Nut Marketing Project
Beginning in 2004, in the Trio community of Alalapadu in the Surinamese interior, ACT has guided the Trio in the establishment of and supplied processing equipment for a Brazil nut harvesting and marketing project. With ACT staff providing processing, administrative, financial and merchandising training, the villagers generate income through sale of hundreds of kilograms of shelled Brazil nuts to the metropolitan markets of Suriname. The project now operates autonomously.
