The Amazon Conservation Team's work has been recognized by prestigious organizations around the world for its innovative approach to conservation, entrepreneurial-style leadership, and fiscally responsible management.

Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies
In April 2011, ACT President Dr. Mark Plotkin was recipient of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies Distinguished Alumni Award. The award recognizes graduates and leaders of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies for outstanding contributions to the fields of forestry or environmental science, policy or management. Tech Awards - Intel Environment Award
Tech Awards LogoIn November 2010, ACT was named a Tech Awards Laureate by the Tech Museum, the premier public institution in Silicon Valley. We were one of 15 global innovators recognized for applying technology to benefit humanity and spark global change, an unusual but deeply appreciated honor for a rainforest conservation organization! Jane Goodall Global Leadership Award

Jane Goodall Institute LogoIn October 2010, ACT President and co-founder Dr. Mark Plotkin was awarded the Global Leadership Award by the Jane Goodall Institute. The award honors an individual who shares renowned primatologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall's values, vision, and commitment to making a positive difference for all living things. Dr. Plotkin is recognized for his entrepreneurial-style leadership of The Amazon Conservation Team. View his acceptance speech here.

Honorary Degree - Lewis and Clark College
In May 2010, Dr. Mark Plotkin received the honorary degree of "Doctor of Humane Letters" from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. The degree citation read in part: "For teaching us that the loss of knowledge and species anywhere impoverishes us all; for combining humanitarian vision with academic rigor and moral sensibility; and for reminding us always, with clarity and passion and humor, that when we study people and plants, we are simultaneously exploring paths to philosophy, music, art, dance reverence, and healing; Lewis and Clark is honored to confer on you today the Doctorate of Humane Letters, honoris causa."

Skoll Foundation - Award for Social Entrepreneurship
Skoll Foundation LogoIn 2008, ACT's co-founders, Dr. Mark Plotkin and Liliana Madrigal, were awarded the Skoll Foundation Award for Social Entrepreneurship. This award is in recognition of the most innovative and sustainable approaches to resolving the world's most urgent social issues.

 

Architects of Peace
Architects of Peace LogoIn 2008, ACT co-founders, Dr. Mark Plotkin and Liliana Madrigal were named Architects of Peace by the Architects of Peace Foundation. The distinction honors world peacemakers who inspire individual transformation leading to social change by educating peace through life examples.
