In Colombia, ACT seeks to generate sustainable livelihood alternatives for remote indigenous communities that also increase their ability to promote the conservation of biodiversity and continue aspects of their traditional culture. The effort has focused on promoting traditional agriculture enhanced by environmentally friendly modern systems and on handicraft production.
ACT provides technical assistance and training in the commercialization of indigenous products. Currently, over 600 families from 38 indigenous reserves are benefitting from sustainable productive activities enabled by ACT's assistance.
