Children from the Amazon recieve botanical lessonsModernity has brought with it swift and abrupt changes to the cultures of traditional indigenous communities, and has historically left a wake of both environmental and cultural destruction across the Amazon. ACT has observed that in the Amazon, environmental health is often proportional to the strength of indigenous culture. ACT's cultural programs, in tandem with its traditional medicine programs, work to remediate and counteract the effects of cultural degradation by cultivating and maintaining community cohesion. Through these initiatives, ACT hopes to enable indigenous communities to make conscious choices regarding their future in the modern era.
